Behind the Butterfly

Every business has a Logo, and generally it means something to the individual or individuals who established the business. Surprisingly, I'm no different.

I had to make a big decision when it came to designing my Logo, especially since I was working with a talented individual. To me, the name of my business was just as important as the logo itself. I tried many things from Yoga Silhouettes, to Trees and Flowers; however, nothing seemed to fit just right. I wanted my logo to convey a message of growth, even as my business transformed and blossomed with other offerings. In the end it came down to the silhouette of a pine cone and a butterfly; which led me to do some research.

The Butterfly, according to Steven D. Farmer's book Animal Spirit Guides, means: "Lighten up and stop taking everything so seriously. Get ready for a big change, one where an old habit, way of thinking, or lifestyle is going out, and a new way of being is emerging. It's time to make the changes you've been considering. In spite of the challenges, you'll get through this transition, and as always, know that "this too shall pass". Express yourself by wearing more colourful clothing." (pg 53, Farmer, Animal Spirit Guides).

To me, the butterfly represented SO much more. It represented transformation and growth; something I could be proud of. Like the butterfly, everyone goes through unique (yet similar) stages, and eventually flourishes. The caterpillar is all about growth and learning; it's a time to absorb new information and ideas; the Cocoon, to me, is about taking the time to harness the new information and to bring them into your daily life; and finally the Butterfly, is about breaking barriers, flourishing and being your best self. These are empowering stages that we continue to go through in life, it's not just a one time thing.

I, personally, went through many transformations to get to where I am today. And I know that I have many more to go. I had to try a variety of things to find out what I didn't like, and what didn't serve me. I knew I liked Yoga, which led me to my Yoga Teacher Training Certification; and from their things grew. I created a business with other facilitators in mind in the beginning, and have since decided to go about it alone. I had to grow as an individual; I had to build confidence, and I had to learn important lessons. This is why the Butterfly stood out to me... it has an impactful message within my logo, a silent message. This hidden message was important to me; and it represented my ongoing growth on personal and professional levels.

Growth in the Grove continues to evolve alongside me, especially in this last year as I was seeking a way to make it my own. I started this Brand with others, and they left their own unique marks on it; when things changed, I felt the need to truly make this my own venture. So, some changes naturally happened; and I'm sure more will happen in the coming years. I'm growing and changing, and my business or brand will adapt with me. My goal with Growth in the Grove has been, and always will be, to help you to awaken to your spirituality; to encourage you to understand yourself and to be who you are.
